Join The Band of The Royal Regiment of Canada
The Band of the Royal Regiment of Canada is made up of both volunteer civilian members, and on-strength military musicians who are paid for rehearsals, military parades, etc. All members are provided with our ceremonial uniforms in which to parade and perform.
To join the Regimental Band as a reserve military musician, you must:
- be 17 by July 1st in the year that you join
- be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
- have completed minimum Grade 11 with 15 high school credits
- pass an audition given by the Director of Music
You will have to meet the Canadian Forces medical standards, and pass a written general knowledge test as part of the standard application procedure.
A Basic Military Recruit Course may be taken part-time on alternate weekends during the fall or spring.
Other summer training and employment opportunities are also available to military musicians upon completion of the Basic Military Qualification.
For those interested, drop in for a rehearsal between 8:00pm to 10:00pm in room 305 at Fort York Armoury.
Fort York Armoury is located at 660 Fleet St. W, near the corner of Fleet St. and Strachan Ave., just outside the Princess Gates, Exhibition Place. To travel by TTC, take the Bathurst Streetcar South from Bathurst Station on the Bloor/Danforth line. By car, the armoury is easily accessible from Lakeshore Dr. with free parking available.

Rehearsal Schedule
The Band of the Royal Regiment of Canada rehearses on a weekly basis. Rehearsals are usually conducted at 7:30pm on Thursdays at Fort York Armoury in room 305.
